Choosing the Right LED Screen Size for Your Event in Saint Kitts

LED screens have transformed event production across Saint Kitts and Nevis. From the massive outdoor displays at Sugar Mas to indoor backdrops for corporate AGMs, choosing the right screen size, resolution, and configuration is critical for impact.

This guide breaks down everything you need to know before renting an LED display for your next event.

Indoor vs Outdoor LED Screens

The first decision is whether your event is indoor or outdoor. Outdoor screens need to be brighter (typically 5,000+ nits) to be visible in Caribbean daylight, weatherproof against tropical rain, and built to handle higher wind loads.

Indoor screens can have finer pixel pitch (more detail at close viewing distances) and lower brightness (1,000–2,000 nits), making them more affordable and crisper for conferences, hotel ballrooms, and concert halls.

Understanding Pixel Pitch

Pixel pitch is the distance between LED pixels, measured in millimetres. A smaller number means higher resolution.

  • P2 to P3 — Indoor close-viewing (corporate AGMs, conference stages, broadcast backdrops)
  • P3 to P5 — Mid-range indoor and small outdoor (concerts, ballroom events)
  • P5 to P10 — Outdoor at distance (Warner Park stadium events, parade routes, festival main stages)

Sizing Your Screen by Venue

The most common mistake is renting a screen that's too small for the audience. As a rule of thumb, the screen height should be at least 1/8 of the distance from the screen to the furthest viewer.

  • Conference room (50–100 attendees) — 8 ft × 4.5 ft (16:9 ratio) is usually sufficient
  • Hotel ballroom (200–500 attendees) — 16 ft × 9 ft minimum, with optional side displays
  • Outdoor stadium (1,000+ attendees) — 24 ft × 13.5 ft or larger, with secondary screens for wide venues like Warner Park
  • Festival main stage (5,000+ attendees) — 30 ft+ wide with optional wing screens

Content Considerations

The screen is only as good as the content on it. We always advise clients to:

  • Design slides and graphics for the screen's native resolution
  • Use high-contrast colours for outdoor visibility
  • Avoid fine text in outdoor settings — use larger, bolder fonts
  • Pre-test all content the day before the event

Logistics in Saint Kitts

Beyond the screens themselves, plan for delivery and setup logistics. Outdoor LED installations at venues like Independence Square or Warner Park typically require a 4–6 hour setup window plus technical rehearsal time. Indoor setups at the Marriott or hotel ballrooms are usually faster but still need 2–3 hours minimum.

Power requirements also matter — large outdoor screens often need a dedicated generator or coordinated venue power planning. Our team handles all of this as part of the package.

Budget Guide

LED rental in the Caribbean varies significantly by size, pixel pitch, and event duration. Single-day indoor rentals typically start in the low thousands of USD, while large multi-day outdoor productions can reach 5-figure budgets when factoring in delivery, setup, technical crew, and content design.

We provide transparent quotes with no hidden fees and can scale the package to match your budget — even if that means recommending a more affordable configuration than what you initially asked for.
